Shivaratri Festival

Nepal is known for its diverse culture and traditions. We have festivals throughout the year and among them Shivaratri is one of the most popular festivals celebrated in Nepal in honor of Lord Shiva. This year the festival was on the 27th of Falgun in the Nepali Calendar (11th of March). On this very day, people visit the temples of Shiva especially the temple Pashupatinath in Nepal. This festival is all about Lord Shiva. We can see devotees assemble in huge numbers and colorful sadhus (Wiki: a holy person in Hinduism who has renounced worldly life) meditating, chanting mantras in temples.

YouMe House (Khotang)

On the 1st floor, there is a bakery that prepares lunch for children and on the second floor, our teachers from different places who have come to pursue their career in our school live there. The third floor is a new addition and is being constructed and will soon be available as a dormitory.

Sunset view from YouMe House (Khotang)

Like a sunrise, the sunset scene is also a delightful scene. This beautiful scenery is captured from our YouMe House. There’s nothing equal to the beauty of nature. We cannot stop the moment or make it wait but we can always enjoy and make the best use of it.

Online lecture with Dr. Paurakh Lal Rajbhandari

Our school had an amazing opportunity of having an online lecture with Dr. Paurakh Lal Rajbhandari. He is a Ph.D. holder from Stanford University. We are expanding our learning experience with different guest lecturers who are experts in their area of study. Our students were very excited and thrilled to know about his journey from Nepal to Stanford University and his biomedical startup in Silicon Valley at present. Our students seemed completely captivated and inspired. Overall, this was an enriching opportunity where our students got to learn and experience dreams actually can be achieved if we are determined to pursue them.

Our students wrote letters thanking Dr. Paurakh for the experience of sharing the wonderful story of his life and journey. These are some of the letters written by our students. Some of our students didn’t get to ask questions considering the time constraints so they have written their queries in letters. The letters have been sent to Dr. Paurakh and we hope our students will hear from him soon.

Movie Time

Our students from Grade 2 and 3 are enjoying the visual treat. They are watching a movie Wall-E in their Extra Curricular Activities class. Watching a movie is always a refreshing idea and when we do that in the classroom with friends the experience is very different and interesting. We believe in the power of visual aids in helping students understand the content. This is also a great way to enhance student’s engagement. But then we do realize the repercussion it may have if we fail to choose the right content for our students.

Play Time

Some childhood games definitely bring back so many memories together. As a child, the only thing we used to worry about was which game to play with our friends whether it was in school or at home after finishing the homework. Our students are playing a Rumal Chor (Handkerchief thief) game. This is one of the different popular games. This can be played in a mass or a small group. In this game, one chosen player is made a thief. The rest sit facing one another in a circle and they are not supposed to look behind while the thief runs across the circle. In this process the thief leaves the rumal (Handkerchief) behind one of the sitting players if the sitting player finds out the rumal (Handkerchief) then the sitting player runs after the thief or if the sitting player gets caught by the thief then the player is out.

Our students can be seen playing this game so often. Not only is the game complete fun but also a physically engaging activity. This surely helps our students rejuvenate their minds.

‘I am actually experiencing the process of growing, nurturing, and succeeding that I can only read in books.’

Our students involving in hands-on activity learning in a practical situation helping them understand and see the process gradually.

Flowers are happiness

Flowers are a wonderful creation of nature and are one of the most beautiful gifts of nature. We believe the school environment also has a significant role in students’ learning and in their development. And planting flowers provides an aesthetic environment where the students actually learn to care. We can actually help them enhance their environmental awareness. These beautiful flowers are from our school garden. These flowers in our school surely make our school’s surroundings more delightful.
