<Haritalika Teej >

Nepal is a land of diverse cultures, religion, ethnicity, language etc. This diversified settlement glorifies and celebrates the existence of mankind. One of the major attractions are our various festivals we celebrate all across Nepal every year. This month we had a Teej festival. A festival especially observed by married women worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva. On this day women observe fast for the wellbeing and long life of their husband. Nevertheless, unmarried women also fast upon their interest believing to get a good husband in future.

In Nepal women celebrate this festival wholeheartedly with great excitement. A day before a fast, women enjoy a sumptuous feast. In Nepal married women get a special invitation to their maternal home where they enjoy the treat cooked by the family. In Nepali, the word for the feast is called, Dar. The next day the women fast for the whole day. This particular day women visit Lord Shiva Temple and in Kathmandu this day Pashupatinath Temple is crowded with women decked up in red sarees and beautiful ornaments. This festival is very special to women. They dance, sing and have fun together.

<YouMe School, Khotang>

Our school was running routine shift-wise physical classes before. Soon after the local government announced the reopening of physical education last week, we are happy to inform everyone that our regular classes have officially started. Our students enjoy coming back to school and continuing to study.

We hope the situation will keep becoming better and we can lead onto living normal lives. Our foremost goal and priority is the well-being of our students and staff. We are following the government’s safety measures and protocols carefully.

Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. It is a stronger form of interpersonal bond. Our students had such a long time away from each other they are just too happy to be back and have fun.

Due to the COVID pandemic, there were many restrictions in physical meetings, playing, and even coming out of the house. It had created loneliness amongst people, largely vulnerable children. These testing times have taught us the real value of family, friends, and togetherness.

<Discord Project>

In response to the letter received from the Higashiyamato Junior Public High School before, our students from Khotang displayed a beautiful way of sharing the message for their friends in Japan.

We can already feel the bond over the message. We can’t wait for our students from Nepal and Japan to have a first virtual meetup. The work is in progress. The new updates will be shared soon.

For now, we are sharing the pictures of our students’ written messages with lots of love and fondness to their friends in Japan.

Our students after a long time participated in the contest enthusiastically.  Constitutions-related questions were prepared and asked from all over the world. We hope to continue the events and activities that help students build teamwork and work together.

3rd stage:

After the collection of maizes in the sacks, all the maize are accumulated here in the front yard of the house.

Students and teachers gathered around the mountain of maize to remove its pericarp.

Teachers, JANUKA MAM & NIKESH SIR  are also enjoying the moment helping students to process the maize.

Tanaka, Sabitra, Khusmita & Deepa leading the processing task. Agriculture is the major occupation of this village and kids learn these things from early childhood. So doing such types of tasks is like a piece of cake for them.

Well removing the outer layer of corn (Pericarp) is an easy task for most of our kids, however these two kids seem to struggle with it. They are using all their power to do the job.

4th stage:

Nothing goes to waste in this village.

The outer covering of the corns (PERICARP) are also useful to make traditional nepalese style mat. Students collected it to make mats.

5th stage:

After the completion of removing the pericarp  of the maizes, our students gathered them all together in a sack.
Our strong boy “Pukar” is assisting to transfer the maizes to our store house.

The maize harvesting task given to our grade 7 students was completed on time. Everyone enjoyed this work so a final group picture with the final collected maize to announce the completion of the project.

<YouMe School, Biratnagar>

After thoroughly examining the situation and several home visits, YouMe School Biratnagar resumed the regular classes this week including all the classes. Finally our school’s playground and classes are now seen with our lovely students’ presence.

The classes have begun and we are so happy to welcome our students back again after months of hiatus. Though we had tried continuing virtual classes for students,  we knew it could never be as good as physically being present in school and studying with the teachers and friends.

We have tried to put in a lot of effort to get them back at school and we are fully abiding by the rules and regulations instituted by the government. We will keep making the best environment possible to keep our students safeguarded.

【Vishwakarma Puja 】

Decorating the picture and preparing Puja for the Lord Vishwakarma

Vishwakarma Puja is devoted to Lord Vishwakarma, who is considered the designer of the world. He created the holy city of Dwarka that was ruled by Krishna. Lord Vishwakarma also created several weapons for Gods.

This day is marked as the day to worship your machines to avoid the harms and misfortunes that might occur from the machines like Bikes, cars, buses, and different weapons that we generally find in our house.

The YouMe School Biratnagar celebrated the day by worshiping the god Vishwakarma. The staff of the school worships the machines like buses, bikes, and different iron materials that are in use in school.

The festival is primarily observed by shops, factories, and industries. On this occasion, workers of factories and industrial areas worship their tools and offer prayers to Lord Vishwakarma to keep their livelihoods secure. They pray for the smooth functioning of machines.

YouMe School, Biratnagar team accepting the values of the festival celebrated the day offering the prayers to keep the strong from every aspect that brings a new challenge. The team together with building the bond to stay happy and healthy by gaining positivity.

【Tagaki International Speech Contest】

We are elated to share the news of our students participating in the international Asia Tagaki speech contest in November 2021. The founder of the contest is Yoko Matsuka, a renowned educator and prominent figure in the English education sector in Japan.

Our students from YouMe School, Khotang and YouMe School, Biratnagar are participating along with the students from Japan, Mongolia, and Bajhang. The vision of the contest is to offer a global experience for all the children through fun ways by embracing and enjoying the differences.

Similarly, it empowers children by encouraging them to express themselves in unique ways. We are so happy to be a part of this program. This platform given is truly inspiring to see our children groom individually and experience a global taste of diversity.
