Lockdown Diaries
Since the first emergence of Covid 19 which looked like a temporary inconvenience suddenly became a part of our lives. The second wave is unimaginably painful and very hard to cope with. According to the latest data around 6700 deaths have been reported in Nepal. The surge in Covid cases led us into the lockdown that started on April 29th which is still ongoing. While we don’t know how long we are going to be in this situation, we choose to be resilient and hope to overcome this with great determination.
When there is so much going on in your surroundings the best escape you could think of would be getting lost in the beauty of nature. The picture perfectly portrays how every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn. Amid the pandemic, nature has become more peaceful. We are patiently waiting for a day where masks could no longer conceal our smiles and no social distancing could stop us from hugging our loved ones.
Last but not least we are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, and front-line defenders who are reaching out to prove that hard work and perseverance could save humanity.
Let’s be kind to each other and be safe and healthy in this harsh situation.

Memories of the learning cycle
We believe childhood memories are so incomplete without learning how to ride a bicycle. We could safely say most people will agree with this statement. During childhood, learning to ride a bicycle was the biggest challenge and the most favorite playtime of almost everyone. Falling down and getting bruises and riding again are integral parts that come with learning to ride a bicycle.
Our students Nishma from Grade SKG and Pallavi from Grade Five are accompanying each other to learn how to ride a bicycle. There is no denying friends are always great company and motivation in our every childhood first adventures. By the time the pandemic settles and school reopens we are pretty sure they would have learned to ride a bicycle.
Teachers Corner
There’s no limit to the dedication of teachers we can see in our teachers which aren’t confined to merely teaching-learning activity. During the lockdown, our teachers from Khotang School have engaged in making their very first table tennis table by themselves. They are making with the resources that are available locally.
Given the current pandemic crisis, the only way to stay sane would be to engage ourselves in activities that help us come out of dreadful and negative thoughts. Our teachers say this time pass has become a therapeutic process for them. And they can’t wait to see the student’s reaction to their first-ever handmade table tennis.
Despite these testing times we continue to seek calmness and peacefulness in whatever activity we involve ourselves in. Similarly, our teachers in Khotang don’t seem to stop surprising us with their innate talents. During the lockdown, our teachers have found an opportunity to express themselves through music. We are so happy to share a beautiful musical moment with our teachers Kedar Thapa and Ujjwal Dhakal. The link is shared below.

<YouMe School, Biratnagar>
As we continue to battle the looming Covid 19 disaster, Biratnagar also recently went under lockdown in the act to curb the pandemic crisis. The view we see here is from our school where the busy roads are now empty and there are very low movements of people.
School closures have substantially helped in decreasing the extent of students contracting the Covid 19 virus. In this second wave, many young age group people have been reported to get affected compared to the first wave. We will keep our faith high until this silent playground fills up with the presence of our beloved students. For now, our primary concern is our student’s safety and when the pandemic settles we can’t wait to get our students back together in the school.
Staying in touch with students and parents
Considering the current situation we acknowledge the importance of reaching out to our students and offer them the guidance they need. Our teachers in the field are continuously working and planning to facilitate the essential information via phone. Likewise, we are helping the parents to understand the situation and how to plan ahead without hampering the learning activity of the students at home.
During these challenging times, we strongly feel having a good team makes everything possible. On top of that, conducting effective virtual meetings with a team can boost everyone’s significant involvement in promoting positive outcomes. This week our teachers had an hour-long meeting where they shared their upcoming plans focused on academic progress and growth-based class conduction in the coming days while keeping the contemporary situation in mind. We are thankful to have a team who are working together and putting so much effort into developing an environment to keep our students on track during this crisis.
