Thank you for your ongoing support.

Nepal is a beautiful country which has a rich history and amazing social and cultural diversity. We have wonderful places, magnificent temples and historical monuments to visit. The above picture is from Kathmandu Durbar (Palace) Square which is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a massive earthquake hit Nepal most of the parts of this palace were severely damaged which is now undergoing reconstruction and renovation.

<YouMe School, Khotang>

School Resumption

The schools have remained shut almost for the past six months due to the Coronavirus pandemic. With the government introducing the Students Learning Facilitation Guidelines 2077 some schools in coordination with local governments have started reopening the schools. Our school has also resumed from the third week of Ashwin (October) following all the required safety measures and observing all the needed health protocols. We had a complete structured timetable of students planned for the whole week where from Grade Nursery to Grade VI students attended school on their scheduled routines.

However, the situation is still challenging in a place like Khotang. The teaching learning activities through other alternatives like online, TV, radios seem less feasible and practical because not all students have access to these mediums of communication. But we take great pride in sharing that our teacher’s relentless effort of connecting with our students and parents in whatever way possible makes us unstoppable in our mission. We are ready for any challenges and hardships brought by this pandemic to defeat with full energy and positivity.

How we’d be enjoying the classes in schools without fearing the spread of the virus and maintaining physical and social distance if it weren’t for Covid-19. Our kids have been so patient and composed having stayed at home for almost six months they are still so willing to come and attend their classes. Though this time it’s a different experience as many imposed restrictions on physical activities and other; the school days are not what they’d exactly imagined. Despite the challenge and mixed feeling, we are happy and excited to welcome our kids to school. This way we are able to teach and learn at the same time as we navigate this new world of learning with many experiments alongside different outcomes.

School Painting Completed

A well maintained school building can help in fostering a sense of pride, unity and safe environment among students and staff. The regular maintenance of a school is a very important aspect of keeping the school’s aesthetics alive. Ever since we built our concrete building we always wanted to have a fresh looking and attractive appearance for our school. We knew orchestrating the idea of painting the whole building was a time consuming and interruptive process. So, when lockdown happened we thought this might be the best time to paint the school within a flexible schedule. And we finally did it. Our students, teachers and parents’ response has been overwhelming; they were surprised and extremely happy all together to see their brand new painted school.

<YouMe School, Biratnagar>

Home visit and meeting with parents

When we decided to reopen our YouMe School, Biratnagar we were skeptical of so many things like our children’s safety, parents’ hesitance and apprehensions bearing the risk of virus spread for their children including our staff’s health security and well-being.

But this was not the time to sit around as our students were already deprived of a proper teaching and learning activity environment for almost six good months.

However, we coordinated with the local level government approaching them with our school resumption plan and when we were given permission to do so we opened our gate for our students abiding by the requisite health protocols.

After the decision our teachers and staff did a couple of rounds of home visits in order to help them understand the current situation and how important their support is at this moment of crisis for us. Meanwhile we counseled and informed the parents our plans and safety precautions inside the school of how we will keep our students safe and protected during this pandemic.

School started from 27th September

Usually the school days are fun filled with familiar faces, morning assembly together, playing around with friends and teachers which once used to be our regular routine. But with the persisting Coronavirus pandemic our lifestyle has completely changed and it’s nothing like anything we’d imagined. Instead we are donning masks and maintaining social distance for the sake of our health concerns. However, we’d like to say we are learning and growing so adapting to the new normal we restarted our Biratnagar school from the second week of Ashwin (27th September 2020) implementing various safety precautions to protect our students from any potential risk of virus transmission.

Online Cultural Exchange Program

We had a small online exchange program with the students from Yahiro Elementary School in Japan. Our founder Sharad Chandra Rai was a guest lecturer for the program. This kind of programs always provides multi-faceted learning of each other’s country while giving an understanding of different cultural perspectives. Our students were super excited when they found out about this interactive program. They have also penned down their feelings of happiness of getting such an opportunity to represent their school and sharing the diverse culture and community of Nepal.
